Database Administration

ITS provides UConn faculty and staff with a secure, stable, and professionally managed centralized database hosting service in support of institutional activities. The central service currently supports Oracle and Microsoft SQL environments for application and development databases.

Oracle database services include:

  • Installation, upgrades and patching
  • Backup/restore
  • Monitoring and tuning
  • Database User account management

MS SQL database services includes:

  • Migration/installation planning and assistance
  • Additional assistance as requested

Application customers shall carry out these responsibilities:

  • Adherence to ITS policies, as outlined at http://policy.uconn.edu/information-technology/
  • Use a version of Oracle or MS SQL software that is actively supported by ITS.
  • Provide administration and customer support for end users of the application
  • Maintain security and integrity of the data, and control access for users and applications accessing the data
  • Provide audit compliance for applications and data
  • Maintain and support applications, servers, and computers that connect to the database instances.

Support provided

  • Support is available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Database requests will be acknowledged within one business day
  • To request a database to be centrally hosted, contact IT Support to open a ticket. Your request will be routed to the appropriate group.
